Hey y'all! Welcome to our blog. If you're reading this, and you know me, then you know I'm up to something. This time, it's the Susan G. Komen 3-day For The Cure. I have been wanting to do a walk for the cure for years, but I have always let my fear get in the way. Not only is it a long WALK (I type as I'm chowing down on a high-cal breakfast sandwich), but the money to be raised....quite intimidating for someone who's never had more than $1,200 in her bank account at one time.
Well, I've decided nothing's going to stop me now. What better way to get motivated for a fresh, healthy start than to walk 60 miles for the cure? It is definitely going to be a struggle. My counterpart, Liz, has way more of a head start on me in this exercise ordeal! I give her mad props, and I'm sure she's going to be kicking my butt to get in shape! However, we aren't just doing this to better ourselves. our lives have been touched by this horrible cancer, in more ways than one.
I'm walking not just for myself, but for my grandmother, Loretta, and pseudo-grandmother, Cindy, who both passed on because of breast cancer. I'm doing it for my mom, aunts, sisters, nieces, friends. Ask anyone, and I'm sure they've been affected in some way. It's time for us, two best friends who live in two different states, to step up to the challenge and walk for our loved ones, past and future.
Liz and I will be posting as often as we can of our trials and tribulations through this experience.
